The Virginia Wesleyan University baseball team (1-9) fell 20-11, and 14-9 in the doubleheader against Rowan.

Game One:
A high-scoring game saw rowan start the game by hitting a grand slam in the first inning to take a 5-0 lead. The Marlins responded with a three-run first inning to cut the lead. Matt Sinko singled to right field to score Chris Mitchell Jr. on second. Then, Trent Hanchey hit a sacrifice fly to left field to score Sinko.

The Profs added a score in the top of the second, but the Marlins responded with two runs in the bottom of the third. The first two batters were walked to lead off the inning. Then, Hanchey reached on a fielder's choice that saw Connor Hall score. Hanchey stole third, then scored off an error by the catcher to cut the lead down to 6-5.

Rowan scored one in the fourth and two in the fifth to lead 8-5. VWU countered scoring five runs in the bottom of the fifth. Hanchey led the inning with a home run to right field. With runners on first and second Mitchell singled to center field to score Samuel Kasprow, then Jaelen Hines hit a home run to center field to take a 10-9 lead.

Rowan outscored the Marlins 11-1 the rest of the way and went on to win 20-11.

Rowan scored one run in the second, six in the third, and two in the seventh to lead 14-3.

The Marlins had a late surge scoring one in the seventh off a sacrifice fly to left field to score Jacob Ness from third. Then, John Bastiaans hit a three RBI home run in the seventh to cut the Profs lead to 14-7. Bastiaans bat struck again in the ninth as he singled to center field to score the runners on second and third.
