The Virginia Wesleyan University baseball team (1-7) lost 10-4 to No. 1 ranked Salisbury.
The Marlins started strong taking a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first with back-to-back doubles from
Connor Hall and
Matt Sinko.
Salisbury took a 2-1 lead in the third innings and extended their lead to 3-1 with one run in the fourth. The Seagulls scored seven runs in the top of the seventh to lead 10-1.
Virginia Wesleyan fought back, scoring three runs in the bottom of the seventh.
Jake Ness singled to lead off the inning and moved to second on an error by the shortstop, then
Ty Krantz pinch hit and singled to left field to score Ness from second.
Chris Mitchell Jr. doubled to right field to score
Michael Burton Jr. from second to cut the lead to 10-3.
Connor Hall flew out to center field scoring
Thomas Crandall from third.
The Seagulls held onto the lead to win 10-4.
Connor Hall led the team going 2-for-4, scored one run, and had one RBI,
Jaelen Hines went 2-for-3, and
Matt Sinko went 2-for-5 with one RBI.
