The Virginia Wesleyan University softball team (12-4) sweep their doubleheader versus Husson University. The Marlins won game one 3-0, and held off the Eagles in game two to win 8-5.
Game One:
A pitching battle early, as neither team scored until the bottom of the fifth inning.
Sarah Prosser hit a lead-off single to center field and advanced to second on an error by the center fielder, and
Alison Pollack hit a bunt single to put runners on the corners. Then,
Caitlin Myers singled to center field to score Prosser.
Julia Piotrowski got on base with a bunt to load the bases for
Olivia Knight who reached first on an error by the third baseman to score Myers from third to take a 2-0 lead.
Laci Campbell got on base with a bunt, then stole second. Prosser was walked followed by a sacrifice bunt from Pollack to advance the runners to second and third.
Emma Adams hit a sacrifice fly to left field scoring Campbell to lead 3-0.
Caitlin Myers led the offense going 2-for-3 at bat with an RBI,
Sarah Prosser went 1-for-3 and scored one run, and
Laci Campbell went 1-for-2 and scored one run.
Emily Seale registered her sixth win of the season and second shutout, pitching 7.0 innings, allowing four hits, and one strikeout.
Game Two:
Husson scored in the top of the first to take a 1-0 lead but the Marlins responded with a run in the bottom of the first.

Alison Pollack to third and scored
Sarah Prosser from third.
Virginia Wesleyan took the lead in the second as
Olivia Knight hit a lead-off single advancing to second on a wild pitch.
Haley Sadler hit an RBI double that scored Knight.
The Marlins scored in the third as
Emma Adams singled through the left side and pinch runner
Jaya Diggs-Hagwood stole second and advanced to third. Myers hit a sacrifice fly to right field to extend the Marlins' lead to 3-1.
The Eagles cut the lead down to 3-2 with a solo home run. However, VWU countered with Knight hitting a lead-off single, then Alison Hudson doubled to right center field to score Knight. With runners on second and third, Prosser singled up the middle to score pinch runner
Mirandah Jenkins to increase their lead to 5-2.
VWU added two more runs in the fifth with back-to-back doubles from Piotrowski and Knight putting runners on the second and third for
Haley Sadler, who singled to right center field to score the runners.
Alison Pollack hit a solo home run to left field, giving the Marlins a big 8-2 lead.
The Eagles rallied in the seventh, scoring three runs to cut the lead down to 8-5. But
Emily Seale came in to get the final out to seal the win for the Marlins.

Sarah Prosser went 3-for-4, scored one run, and one RBI,
Olivia Knight went 3-for-4 with one double and scored three runs, and
Alison Pollack went 2-for-4 with a home run,
Lauren Bible got the win in the circle as she pitched 3.2 innings allowing four runs off six hits and had four strikeouts and
Emily Seale got her first save of the season to close out the win.
