The Virginia Wesleyan University softball team (10-4) swept their doubleheader with Stockton University, winning 5-0 in game one, and 2-0 in game two.
Game One:
The Marlins got on the board in the second inning with a base runner on second Lace Campbell singled to center field to score
Brooke Anderson to take a 1-0 lead.
Virginia Wesleyan added to their lead in the bottom of the third.
Alison Pollack walked to start the inning, then
Emma Adams singled through the left side to put runners on first and second.
Caitlin Myers hit an RBI double down the right field line to score Pollack from second taking a 2-0 lead.
In the fourth inning, Pollack hit a three-run homer to left-center field to increase the Marlins' lead to 5-0.
Alison Pollack led the offense going 2-for-2 with a home run, scored two runs, and had three RBI,
Laci Campbell went 2-for-3, scored one run, and had one RBI, and
Caitlin Myers went 1-for-3 with a double and had one RBI.
Emily Seale recorded the win in the circle as she pitched 5.0 innings, only allowed one hit and tallied five strikeouts.
Game Two:
A low-scoring game that started with Virginia Wesleyan taking a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first.
Alison Pollack tripled to right center field followed by a single up the middle from
Emma Adams to bring in Pollack from third.
In the sixth inning,
Sarah Prosser hit a lead-off double to left center, and
Alison Pollack hit a sac bunt to the pitcher to move Prosser to third.
Caitlin Myers singled through the left side to score Prosser from third to extend their lead to 2-0.
Emma Adams went 1-for-3 with an RBI,
Sarah Prosser went 1-for-3 with a double, and scored one run, and
Alison Pollack went 1-for-2 with a triple and scored one run.
Emma Adams pitched a complete game pitching 7.0 innings, allowed two hits, and registered seven strikeouts.
