VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. -- The Virginia Wesleyan baseball team dropped the final game against the NCAA Reigning National Champions No. 7 Eastern Connecticut State University falling 7-1.
The Warriors started off the game with a two-run homer in the top of the first inning to get on the board early. ECSU added two more runs in the fourth and three in the fifth taking a 7-0 lead over VWU.
The Marlins found their way onto the scoreboard in the bottom of the fifth inning as
Ryan Ballard came home on a bases loaded hit by pitch to
Connor Hall. No other runs were scored the remainder of the game while the Marlins left four runners on the bases throughout the sixth, seventh, eighth, and ninth innings.
The Marlins return to action on Wednesday, March 1, when they host the national runners-up the No. 3 Sea Gulls of Salisbury University. First pitch is set for 2 PM at Kenneth R. Perry Field at TowneBank Park.
