The Virginia Wesleyan University women's basketball team (1-4, 0-3 ODAC) was defeated by Randolph-Macon 69-43.
Maesyn Blaylock led the team with 11 points, shooting 4-for-10 from the field, five rebounds, three assists, and two steals, Juliana Anderson had nine points shooting 3-for-6 from beyond the arc, two rebounds, and one assist, and Mekayla Clarke had eight points, shooting 2-for-7 from the field, five rebounds, and three assists.
Keys to the Game:
- The Yellow Jackets shot 28-for-63 (44.4%) from the field while the Marlins shot 16-for-56 (28.6%) from the field.
- Randolph-Macon outscored VWU in the paint with a 42-14 advantage.
- RMC had 29 bench points compared to the Marlins 11.
How it Happened:
The Yellow Jackets took an early lead and the defense stood tall against the Marlins to take a 32-7 lead into halftime.
The Marlins made key halftime adjustments and the Marlins were able to score 20 points in the third quarter to cut the lead down to 52-27.
RMC started the final frame strong building a 62-31 lead. VWU fought back going on a 10-2 run to cut the lead down to 64-41 with 3:59 left in the contest. The Yellow Jackets went on to win 69-43.
