The Virginia Wesleyan University men's basketball team (5-0) defeated non-conference foe North Carolina Wesleyan 87-64.
Omari DeVeaux led the team in scoring with 22 points shooting 10-for-16 from the field, and 2-for-4 from the beyond the arc, five rebounds, and one steal, Khai Seargeant scored 18 points shooting 5-for-11, shooting 2-for-4 from three-point territory, and 6-for-6 from the charity stripe, had five assists, and two steals, and Miles Wallace registered 11 points shooting 4-for-7 from the field, four rebounds, three steals, and two assists.

- The Marlins' defense was a key factor as they scored 22 points off turnovers, compared to the Battling Bishops' two.
- Virginia Wesleyan recorded 11 fast break points versus N.C. Wesleyan's five.

How It Happened:
The Battling Bishops scored first, but the Marlins Omari DeVeaux scored the first ten points for the Marlins with two threes to take a 10-4 lead. N.C. Wesleyan fought back to cut the lead down to 12-10. However, Virginia Wesleyan rallied and went on a 17-2 run to lead 29-12 midway through the first half. VWU held a healthy lead for the rest of the half and went into halftime up 48-33.
The Battling Bishops came out after the break and went on a 10-3 run to cut the lead down to 50-43. The Marlins were able to pull away with an 11-3 run to take a 71-54 lead. VWU kept their momentum and were up by as many as 27 points in the second half and took home an 87-64 victory.
