The Virginia Wesleyan University women's basketball team (1-2, 0-1 ODAC) fell to conference opponent Shenandoah 68-32.
The Marlins offense was led by Jada Norman who scored six points shooting 2-for-3 from the field, and 1-for-2 from beyond the arc, and had two rebounds, Maesyn Blaylock tallied six points shooting 3-for-5 from the floor, one steal, and one rebound, and Logan Carter recorded five points shooting 2-for-5 from the field, 1-for-2 from three-point territory, with one steal and one rebound.
Keys to the Game:
- The Marlins shot 27.5 percent from the floor, compared to the Hornets 44.1 percent.
- The Hornets had the advantage in the paint as they outscored the Marlins 46-14.
- Shenandoah had 22 points off turnovers compared to VWU's seven.
- SU registered nine fast break points compared to Virginia Wesleyan's four.
How it Happened:
Shenandoah went on an 11-0 run to start the game and led 18-3 after the first quarter.
The Hornets kept up the pressure to lead VWU 30-10 at halftime.
The Marlins came out of the break and went on a 4-2 run to cut the lead to 32-14. At the end of the third, the Hornets outscored the Marlins 19-14 to lead 49-24.
Shenandoah went on to win 68-32.
