The Virginia Wesleyan University volleyball team (19-2, 8-0 ODAC) went 2-0 on Homecoming beating Washington & Lee 3-1, and Salisbury 3-1.

Haley Sutton broke the record for sets played in program history, playing in 470 sets in her five-year career.
Game One:
Virginia Wesleyan began the match and built a 7-5 lead over the Generals, but Washington & Lee went on a 5-2 run to take a 10-9 lead. However, the Marlins rallied with a 15-3 run to take a 24-13 lead. VWU went on to win the first set 25-16.
With a 1-0 lead, the Marlins came out in the second set and took an 8-4 lead, extending their lead further with a 4-3 run to lead 12-7. The Generals responded with a 6-0 run to take a 13-12 lead. The Marlins went on a 2-0 run, but W&L responded with a 5-1 run to lead 18-15. The Generals went on to take set two 25-20.
After dropping a set, the Marlins fought back and led 8-2 early in the set, and kept the pressure on with a 7-1 run that gave them a 15-5 lead. The Generals countered with an 8-3 run to cut the lead to 18-13. Virginia Wesleyan outscored Washington & Lee 7-5 to take the third set 25-18.
VWU's strong offense continued as they built a 13-7 lead, but W&L responded with a 6-3 run to bring the score to 16-13. The Marlins went on a 5-3 run to lead 21-16, however, the Generals went on an 8-3 tying the game at 24-24. Virginia Wesleyan outscored Washington & Lee 3-1 to seal the 3-1 win.
Emma Claytor led the offense and tallied 18 kills, with a .382 hitting percentage, five digs, five block assists, and two service aces,
Morgan Ludovici recorded 14 kills, with a .111 hitting percentage, nine digs, two service aces, and one block assist, and
Hannah Smith had 10 kills, with a .100 hitting percentage, 22 digs, three block assists, and one service ace.

Haley Sutton tallied 26 assists, seven digs, and five kills, with a .625 hitting percentage, and one service ace,
Niya Nash had 20 assists and eight digs.
Cara Caruso registered a team-high 34 digs, nine assists, and one service.
Game Two:
The Marlins started strong, jumping out to a 7-3 lead to start the match, but the Seagulls went on a 5-0 run to take an 8-7 lead. VWU went on a 6-2 rally to lead 13-10. However, Salisbury countered with a 9-2 run to lead 17-14. Virginia Wesleyan caught fire, going on an 11-3 run to win the set 25-20.
The Seagulls fought back building a solid 12-2 lead in the second set. The Marlins countered with a 5-2 run to bring the score to 14-7. After Salisbury scored two back-to-back points, the Marlins went on a 7-2 run to cut the lead to 18-14. The two traded points the rest of the set, to give the visitors the win 25-21.
Virginia Wesleyan bounced back and led 9-3 early in the set, but the Seagulls went on a 4-2 run to cut the lead to 11-7. The Marlins went on a 6-2 run to take a 17-9 lead. Salisbury tried to chip away at the Marlins lead, but the deficit was too large, and the host won the set 25-17.
In the fourth set, VWU built a 7-4 lead, but the Seagulls rallied with a 6-3 run to tie the set at 10-10. However, the Marlins fought back winning five straight points to lead 15-10. Salisbury went on a 4-2 run to bring the score to 17-14, but the Marlins countered with a 3-1 run to lead 20-15. The Seagulls had a late surge to cut the Marlins lead to 21-19, but Virginia Wesleyan outscored Salisbury 4-2 to win the final set 25-21.
