The Virginia Wesleyan University women's volleyball team (20-2, 9-0 ODAC) defeated conference Opponent Roanoke 3-0, winning 25-22, 25-22, and 25-11.
Virginia Wesleyan jumped out to a 6-3 lead, the Maroons stormed back with a 4-1 run to tie the game at 7-7. Roanoke continued to rally and took a 12-11 lead. After the two teams traded points the Maroons went on a 3-0 run to lead 18-16, but the Marlins fought back with a 4-1 run to lead 20-19. VWU finished the set outscoring Roanoke 5-3.
Roanoke took an early 5-3 lead in the second set, but the Marlins responded with a 5-1 run to lead 9-7. The Maroons managed to tie the set at 10-10, but the Marlins countered with a 6-2 run to lead 16-12. Roanoke rallied with a 6-2 run of their own tying the game at 18 all. However, Virginia Wesleyan outscored the host 7-3 to win the second set 25-22.
In the third set, the Marlins offense caught fire taking an 9-3 lead and extending their lead to 15-1 with a 6-1 run. Roanoke was never able to recover and the Marlins won the third set 25-11.
