Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women's Soccer Finish Regular Season with a 9-0 Win Over Hollins University

The Virginia Wesleyan University women's soccer team (13-3-1, 9-0-1 ODAC) hosted Hollins University and were victorious 9-0 in their final regular season game. 

Women's Soccer honored its 13-member senior class before the start of the game. Seniors Sam Crawford, Victoria Gonzalez, Adrianna Gunther, Ashleigh Lockard, Julia Marrone, Breacain McClenahan, Rachel Quigley, Rachel Schoss, Kennedy Soliday, Lexi Soteriou, Tyler Wheeler, Rachel Wilson, and Kailyn Yeager were accompanied by their families and celebrated for their contributions to the Marlin organization.

The Marlins offense had plenty of opportunities to score in the 1st half. Virginia Wesleyan registered an outstanding 17 shots in the 1st half.

In the 5th minute, Breacain McClenahan dribbled into the box and put the ball into the back of the net to put the Marlins up 1-0.

In the 10th minute, Breacain McClenahan sent a crisp pass to Julia Marrone. Marrone then scored a goal to put the Marlins up 2-0.

In the 19th minute, Tyler Wheeler scored a goal off of a breakaway to put the Marlins up 3-0.

In the 37th minute, Emma Shuey sent a cross to Janessa Lowe, Lowe dribbled inside the penalty box and scored to put the score at 4-0.

In the 39th minute, Stephanie Koblish assisted Emma Shuey who scored to put the Marlins up 5-0. 

In the 45th minute, Shyenne Diaz dribbled the ball from the near sideline into the box. Diaz made a sharp cut, shot and scored to put the Marlins up 6-0.

Coming out of halftime, in the 48th minute, Cailey Johnson crossed the ball to Grace Engelbert. Engelbert shot from just outside of the box and sailed the ball into the top right corner to put the Marlins up 7-0.

In the 69th minute, Megan Setlak sent a cross to Alaina Alston's head. Alston headed the ball over the goalkeeper and into the net to put the score at 8-0.

In the 90th minute and the last second of regulation, Courtney Mills scored a goal to put the final score at 9-0.

The Marlins outshot Hollins University 31-2 and possessed the ball 79% of the game.
