The Virginia Wesleyan University women's volleyball team (22-4, 10-0 ODAC) dropped a 3-2 game against CNU, 23-25, 25-16, 23-25, 26-24, and 10-15.
The first set was tightly contested, with CNU holding a 5-3 lead and extending that lead to 8-4 with a 3-1 run, but the Marlins fought back with a 9-1 run to lead 13-9. After the teams traded several points, VWU went on a 6-1 run to lead 21-14. The Captains countered with an 8-0 run to take a 22-21 lead. CNU went on to win the set 25-23.
Virginia Wesleyan built a 7-4 lead in the second set, each team scored five points, putting the score to 12-9. The Marlins offense caught fire and went on a 7-2 run to lead 19-11. VWU outscored CNU 6-4 to win the set 25-16.
The two teams kept it close to start the third set with the Marlins holding an 8-6 lead, but Christopher Newport went on a 6-0 run to take a 12-8 lead and extended their lead to 21-14. Virginia Wesleyan fought back outscoring the Captains 8-2 to bring the score to 23-22, but CNU went on to win 25-23.
The Marlins needed this next set to stay alive in the match and started strong going up 7-3 early, but the Captains rallied with an 8-2 run to lead 14-11. Virginia Wesleyan came back with a 7-3 run to tie the set at 20-20. VWU outscored CNU 6-4 to win the fourth set 26-24.
In the fifth and final set, the Marlins built a 3-2 lead, but CNU countered with an 8-0 run to lead 10-3. Virginia Wesleyan surged and outscored CNU 7-5, but the Captain's lead was too great and won the fifth set 15-10.

Morgan Ludovici had 12 kills, with a 0.83 hitting percentage, 13 digs, four assists, and one block assist, and
