VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - The Virginia Wesleyan women's soccer team defeated the Monarchs of Methodist University 4-0 on Saturday afternoon at the Tassos Paphites Soccer Complex in Virginia Beach, VA.

FIRST HALF

• The first 30 minutes of the game were back and forth between the two teams with the Marlins controlling most of the possession. 
• VWU was rewarded in the 37th minute as sophomore Kalyn Byrd connected with the back of the net off a cross from Lexi Soteriou to break the nil-nil draw and give the Marlins a 1-0 lead heading into the half. 

SECOND HALF

• The Marlins remained hungry in the second half as they scored their second goal ten minutes into the resumption of play as Emma Acanfora converted a pass from Breacain McClenahan to put VWU up 2-0. 
• VWU enjoyed the 2-0 lead for another 25 minutes when freshman Grayson Yeager scored off a Shyenne Diaz assist in the 79th minute to give the Marlins a three-goal advantage.
• Less than four minutes later, Yeager connected with the back of the goal again in the 83rd for her second career goal putting Virginia Wesleyan up 4-0 for the victory. 

KEY STATS

• Three Marlins scored in the game led by Grayson Yeager with a pair of goals. 
• Kalyn Byrd and Emma Acanfora both contributed a goal.
• Rachel Quigley played 72 minutes in goal making one save and allowing no goals. Amruta Karkare played the final 18 minutes making two saves and allowing no goals.
