VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - The Virginia Wesleyan women's soccer team defeated the Monarchs of Methodist University 4-0 on Saturday afternoon at the Tassos Paphites Soccer Complex in Virginia Beach, VA.

FIRST HALF
- The first 30 minutes of the game were back and forth between the two teams with the Marlins controlling most of the possession.
- VWU was rewarded in the 37th minute as sophomore Kalyn Byrd connected with the back of the net off a cross from Lexi Soteriou to break the nil-nil draw and give the Marlins a 1-0 lead heading into the half.
SECOND HALF
- The Marlins remained hungry in the second half as they scored their second goal ten minutes into the resumption of play as Emma Acanfora converted a pass from Breacain McClenahan to put VWU up 2-0.
- VWU enjoyed the 2-0 lead for another 25 minutes when freshman Grayson Yeager scored off a Shyenne Diaz assist in the 79th minute to give the Marlins a three-goal advantage.
- Less than four minutes later, Yeager connected with the back of the goal again in the 83rd for her second career goal putting Virginia Wesleyan up 4-0 for the victory.

The Marlins are back in action on Sunday, Sept. 11, when they travel up the road to Newport News, VA to play the Susquehanna University River Hawks in a neutral contest at Christopher Newport University. Kick-off is set for 2 PM.
