VIRGINIA BEACH, Virginia - The Virginia Wesleyan University men's lacrosse team fell to the Hornets of No. 4 University of Lynchburg on Saturday afternoon at Birdsong Field in Virginia Beach, VA.

The Hornets got on the scoreboard first 43 seconds into the contest. Virginia Wesleyan's Chris Lindemeyer got the Marlins on the board about two minutes later off a pass from Jackson Rockhill to even the score at one all. Lynchburg went on an 8-0 run to close out the opening quarter with a 9-1 lead.
Lynchburg scored the first goal of the second quarter, before Sam Edwards scored the second goal for the Marlins two minutes into the second frame. The Hornets scored four more goals taking a 14-2 lead with seven and a half minutes until the halftime break. Lindemeyer collected his second goal of the game off a pass form Jackson Dinger putting the score at 14-3. Lynchburg added one more goal before the half to lead 15-3 at the break.
The Hornets scored eleven unanswered goals, six in the third quarter, and five in the fourth, taking a 26-3 lead. Nathan Sheirburn added the Marlins fourth goal with eight minutes remaining in the game, but Lynchburg got the last say added two more goals to win 28-4.

The men's lacrosse team is back in action on Wednesday, March 30, when they host travel to Lynchburg, VA, for their first road game since the opening weekend of the season. The Marlins will take on the WildCats of Randolph College at 3:30 PM.
