Box Score SALISBURY, Maryland - The Marlins of Virginia Wesleyan scored a pair of runs in a 6-2 loss to the No. 8 Sea Gulls of Salisbury University on Wednesday afternoon at the Sea Gull Baseball Park in Salisbury, MD.

Neither team found runs in the first or second innings despite the Marlins having the bases loaded in the top of the second frame and the Sea Gulls leaving two stranding in the bottom half of the second.
In the top of the third, Jaelen Hines reached base on balls to start the inning and work his way around to third after stealing second and getting to third on a groundout by Trent Hanchey. The right fielder came home on a passed ball for the first score of the game during a Garrett Lyons at-bat.
Salisbury responded in the bottom half of the inning with three runs to take a 3-1 lead. SU's first run came on a long fly ball to left field to score the first run and was followed by a two-run homer by Anderson over the left field wall.
SU added a run in the fourth inning to go up 4-1 before both teams went scoreless through the next two innings. The Sea Gulls scored two more in the bottom of the seventh on a Rahill home run for two RBI.
VWU added one more run in the top of the ninth inning as Hines scored on a Lyons groundout that put the final score at 6-2 in favor of Salisbury.

Virginia Wesleyan returns to action this weekend as they host Rowan University at TowneBank Park in Virginia Beach, VA. The Marlins and Profs will play a doubleheader on Saturday with games at 11 AM and 2 PM. They'll take the field again on Sunday at 11 AM to round out the three game series.
