SALEM, Virginia - The Virginia Wesleyan University men's basketball team finished the 2021-22 season as the ODAC runners up after falling to the No. 1 Yellow Jackets of Randolph-Macon College on Sunday afternoon in the championship game at the Salem Civic Center in Salem, VA.

The Marlins took the lead early 4-0 off back to back layups from TIm Fisher. Virginia Wesleyan maintained a slim lead 10-7 but a three pointer by Buzz Anthony of R-MC knotted the score at 10 all with 15:55. The teams went back and forth over the next seven minutes evening up the score twice, at 16 and 22 all. Macon went on to take a seven point lead, 33-26, but the Marlins went on a 10-4 run pulling within one point, 37-36, as the teams went into the halftime break.
VWU was as close as one point early int he second half, 41-40 (18:03), but R-MC quickly pulled ahead 53-40 after a 12-0 rally. The Yellow-Jackets maintained their double-digit lead throughout the remainder of the second half to claim a 74-59 win over the Marlins.

Corey Pelham tallied 13 points while
Eric Rowland added 12 points.
Following the game,
Tim Fisher and
Corey Pelham were named to the all tournament team for their performances throughout the ODAC Championship tournament.
YELLOW JACKET LEADERS
The Buzz Anthony led the Yellow Jackets with 18 points. Daniel Mbangue added 15 while Miles Mallory and Josh Talbert both added 12 each. Mallory led all players with 12 rebounds.
