VIRGINIA BEACH, Virginia - The Marlins of Virginia Wesleyan collected a 13-8 victory over the Bombers of Ithaca College on Saturday afternoon at Kenneth R. Perry Field in TowneBank Park.

The Marlins found the scoreboard first in the bottom of the first inning as Jaelen Hines crossed home plate after a Trent Hanchey groundout. Neither team scored in the second or third innings, until the Bombers put a pair of runs on the board in the top of the fourth inning going up 2-1.
Virginia Wesleyan's bats got hot as the Marlins scored 12 runs over the next three innings going up 13-2 heading into the seventh. VWU put three runs on the board in the fourth courtesy of a two RBI double from Connor Hall that scored Matt Sinko and Garrett Lyons, and a single from Sam Kasprow that scored Hall.
The Marlins scored four more in the bottom of the fifth with Ronaldo Del Duca scoring as well as Lyons, Sinko, and Hall. In the bottom of the sixth, VWU added five more runs going up 13-2, as Hines, Del Duca, Hanchey, Lyons, and Sinko all scored for the Marlins.
Ithaca tried to rally back in the seventh, eighth, and ninth scoring six runs over the three innings putting their total at eight but the Marlins held on to win 13-8.

Virginia Wesleyan returns to action on Wednesday, March 2, when they hit the road heading up the Eastern Shore to Salisbury, Maryland, to face Salisbury University. The Marlins and Sea Gulls will meet at the diamond for a 2 PM first pitch.
