FAYETTEVILLE, NC. -- The Virginia Wesleyan men's basketball team defeated the Monarchs of Methodist University on Sunday afternoon in a road game in Fayetteville, NC. VWU defeated MU 63-50 behind 22 points from
Khai Seargeant and 15 from
Amarion Wilson.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The teams were neck and neck from the very beginning of the game with neither team holding more than a one-point lead until the 12-minute mark when the Monarchs took a five-point lead following a layup putting the score at 12-7. Six points from
Amarion Wilson and five from
Khai Seargeant gave the Marlins a two-point lead, 18-16, with 8:26 remaining on the clock. The remaining eight minutes saw the score tied five times as well as changing hands five times with VWU holding a slim three-point advantage at the break 28-25.
Methodist came out in intermission to start the second half scoring eight unanswered points and taking a 33-28 lead by the 18-minute mark. Virginia Wesleyan climbed back over the next two minutes to take a 36-35 lead after
Omari DeVeaux hit a three-pointer just before the 16-minute mark. The lead changed hands twice more before the Marlins claimed sole possession starting with a dunk by Wilson and a three-pointer by
Joey Lee that put VWU ahead 41-37 (14:20). In the remaining time, Virginia Wesleyan held Methodist to just 13 points while going on a 22-point run that drove the final score to 63-50 in VWU's favor.

The Marlins were led by
Khai Seargeant with 22 points and 10 rebounds, while Amarion WIlson scored 15 points and brought down six rebounds.
Omari DeVeaux added eight points and six rebounds while
Eric Rowland contributed seven points and six rebounds.
