SUFFOLK, Virginia - The Virginia Wesleyan men's golf team competed in a two day dual against the Builders from the Newport News Apprentice School on Wednesday and Thursday to kick off their fall schedule. Sophomore,
John Wampler led all players with a two-day total of 149 through 36 holes played.
INSIDE THE SCORECARD
Over the two days Wampler shot even on 18 holes, nine the first day and 11 on day two, birdied on seven, bogied on six and doubled on three. On his first day of action through the front nine, Wampler was two under par with 34 strokes and had a tougher time on the back nine shooting five over (41) totaling 75 strokes on the day. On the second day, Wampler hit one over on both the front and back nine holes to sit two over par at 74 strokes. His two-day total came in at 149 through 36 holes played.
Casey Bennett had the next best total over the course of two days finishing with 167 strokes, or 23 over par. On his first day of action, Bennett shot an 84, +12, hitting par on five holes and birdieing two. On the second day, Bennett hit for par on nine holes and hit a single birdie.
Joey Gray finished third for the Marlins with a two day total of 201. Gray recorded four pars over the two days.
Daniel Chewning and
Michael Held rounded out the action for the Marlins with Chewning hitting a 213 and Held a 233 through 36 holes.

The Marlins travel down to Rocky Mount, NC, to compete against the Battling Bishops of NC Wesleyan on Sunday and Monday.
