VIRGINIA BEACH, Virginia - The Virginia Wesleyan women's soccer team defeated the Panthers of Ferrum College on Sunday afternoon on senior day at Birdsong Field in Virginia Beach, VA. Ten Marlin seniors were honored prior to the game for Senior Day.

FIRST HALF
- After nearly 40 minutes of scoreless activity, Virginia Wesleyan found the back of the net on a goal by freshman Caroline Smith in the 39th minute off the assist by Gracie Mullins to take the 1-0 lead.
- Just before the halftime horn, Ferrum knotted the score at one all as the clock neared the 41st minute.
SECOND HALF
- After breaking from the halftime intermission, the Marlins broke the draw with a second goal from Smith in the 62nd minute giving VWU a 2-1 lead.
- Eight minutes later, Julia Marrone connected with the net off the pass from Camryn Terry to give Virginia Wesleyan a 3-1 lead that they held on too for the remainder of the game.
KEY STATS
- Freshman Caroline Smith scored a pair of goals while freshman Julia Marrone scored the third Marlin goal.
- Ashleigh Lockard played all 90 minutes in goal giving up one goal on six Ferrum shots.
