VIRGINIA BEACH, Virginia - The Virginia Wesleyan baseball team fell to the Sea Gulls of Salisbury University on Wednesday afternoon at Kenneth Perry Field at TowneBank Park in Virginia Beach, VA.

• Neither team managed to find a score in the opening two innings despite the Marlins leaving a runner on base in the bottom of the first. 
• Salisbury put up a pair of runs in the top of the third on a 2 RBI single to short right field as the ball was hit just over the firstbasemans head.
• The Marlins had a runner on third in the bottom of the third but could not bat him home leaving the runner stranded.
• The Sea Gulls added four more runs in the top of the fourth after a double and three hit by pitches loaded the bases and walked in the first run. The other two runs scored on a single down through left side moving the score up to 6-0.
• The fifth and sixth innings were quite for both teams while both teams left runners stranded in the seventh inning.
• Salisbury left runners on the bases in both the eighth and ninth innings while sending the Marlins back to the dugout in order to win the game 6-0.

KEY STATS

• Tyriq Campbell recorded the lone hit for Virginia Wesleyan in his four at-bats. 
• CJ Morris pitched three innings for the Marlins giving up two runs on three hits.
• Brycen Seymore, who came in to pitch the sixth inning recorded two of the three strikeouts for the Marlin pitching corps.

Virginia Wesleyan returns to action this Saturday when they host Eastern Mennonite in their ODAC home opener. The Royals and Marlins will meet at Towne Bank Park for a doubleheader with game times set for 12 & 3 PM.
