VIRGINIA BEACH, Virginia - The Virginia Wesleyan University women's volleyball team defeated the Panthers of Ferrum College in straight sets on Saturday morning in TowneBank Arena in Virginia Beach, VA.

MATCH RECAP
The Marlins opened the first set on a 10-4 run with four consecutive points coming from three kills and a Sydney Collins/Alexis Davies-Hackenberg block. VWU continued to increase its lead opening a 12-point advantage, 20-8, as six straight points fell in favor of the home team. Virginia Wesleyan closed out the set scoring five of the last nine points to win the first set 25-12.
The two squads were neck and neck through the early services as the score sat knotted up at six all. The Marlins put together six points taking a 12-6 lead, before the Panthers clawed back within two, 14-12, following a 6-2 run of their own. VWU held off FC through the second half of set two closing out the action on an 11-5 rally to claim a 25-17 set win.
Virginia Wesleyan kicked things into high gear to solidify a quick win in set three after opening the final frame on a 16-0 run. Both teams traded three points over the next few services, and VWU closed out the set on a 6-1 rally to win the final set 25-4.
