Taylor Hits Milestone as Volleyball Defeats Lions

Box Score

ARLINGTON, Va. - The Virginia Wesleyan University volleyball team dropped Penn State-Behrend, 3-1 (18-25, 25-18, 25-14, 25-7), Friday evening at the Marymount Tournament. With the victory, the Marlins improve to 16-4 on the season.

After dropping the first set, the Marlins were able to find their footing as they held their opponent to a negative kill percentage in the final two sets.

Alyssa Taylor highlighted the match as she recorded 20 digs from the libero position. With the 20, the senior eclipses the 1,000 dig mark for her career. Aiding in that defense was the net presence as the Marlins registered 18 blocks. Spearheading that campaign was Sydney Collins with seven.

On the offensive side of things, the Marlins found solid play from multiple hitters. Lauren Topper lead the squad as she racked up 12. Not far behind her was Elizabeth Britton with 10.

Haley Sutton and Meghan Wood each took turns setting, collecting 22 and 12 assists, respectively.

Volleyball returns to action as they compete in a doubleheader on Saturday. The team will square off against host Marymount University at 10 a.m. before finishing the day with a 2 p.m. contest against DeSales University.
