Baseball Drops Home Contest to #21 Salisbury

Box Score

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The Virginia Wesleyan University baseball team took a, 3-0, loss to nationally-ranked Salisbury University Tuesday afternoon at Kenneth R. Perry Field. With the defeat, the Marlins sit at .500 (5-5) while Salisbury goes to 1-2 on the year.

It was a tough go for the home squad as Salisbury tacked on an early 2-0 lead. The Marlins would finally get a runner into scoring position in the eighth as Corey King led off with a single and was then moved around to third on a few groundouts. That's as far as the senior could get though, leaving the Marlins scoreless in the game.

Pitching for VWU was by committee with a new pitcher nearly every inning. Nine Marlins took the bump, with Andrew Lowe striking out two of his three batters faced in the sixth.

Baseball returns to the diamond at 2 p.m. on March 7, as the team welcomes Marymount University to Virginia Beach.
