Box Score VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - The Virginia Wesleyan University baseball team fell, 13-6, to Ithaca College Sunday morning at Kenneth R. Perry Field. With the loss, the Marlins move to 5-4 on the season.
Ithaca got out to an early lead, tacking on seven unanswered through the first four innings. Austin Obenour cut into the lead in the bottom of the inning though, sending a three-run shot over the wall to cut into the Bomber lead.
After a scoreless fifth, Ithaca recorded two more while Dylan Gentry crossed home on an error to give the Marlins another.The seventh would be the same situation with IC putting up a three-spot and VWU only answering with two.
Doug Avery took the loss on the day, throwing three innings and allowing two runs. Andrew Lowe and Chance Pauley each got one inning after that and the final four were split evenly between Adam Brooks and Chris Baker.
Baseball returns to action at 2 p.m. on Tuesday as the team welcomes Salisbury University to town.
