Patrina Blow

Coach Patrina Blow joined the Virginia Wesleyan University women's basketball coaching staff in September 2022 as the new assistant women's basketball coach.

Blow comes to VWU with a rich history of coaching women's basketball at five different institutions that span over a 23-year coaching career including stops at every level of competition. Pace University (1996-97; 2005-16; 2017-21), New York University (2016-17), University of Bridgeport (2004-05), Boston University (2000-02) and Hofstra University (1997-2000).

During her time at Pace, Blow helped recruit and coach 14 Northeast-10 All Conference players and one Northeast-10 Freshman of the Year. The Setters qualified for 11 conference playoffs, made five NCAA tournament appearances, and reached the Division II NCAA East Regional Finals in 2011.

While at the University of Bridgeport, UB saw the largest turnaround in NCAA Division II Women’s Basketball history as the Purple Knights improved from 3-24 during the 2003-2004 season to 22-9 and winning the New York Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship in 2005 to advance to the NCAA
tournament.
 
As an assistant coach at Boston University, Blow helped recruit and coach eight America-East All Conference players, assisting in recruiting the 2001 incoming class, which was ranked 24th best in the country by the All-Star Recruiting Report. In the same role at Hofstra University, Blow assisted with recruiting and coaching five America-East All Conference players.

Prior to her career in coaching, Blow attended St. John’s University where she obtained a bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts, while also playing four years of collegiate basketball for the Red Storm. Blow sits sixth in career three-point field goals made. Additionally, Blow was the team recipient of the Marianne Noonan Memorial Award which is presented annually to a member of the Women’s Basketball Team who best exemplifies the unselfish attitude and team spirit of Marianne Noonan in whose memory the award was established. Blow was an all-state player in high school and was later inducted into the Notre Dame Catholic High School (CT) Hall
of Fame in 1999.
