Nick Doyle

Nick Doyle returned to Virginia Wesleyan to become a member of the men’s basketball coaching staff in July 2018. He will begin his fourth season with the Marlins in 2021-22.

Doyle helped the Marlins to three ODAC Championship games on the bench as a coach. In April of 2022, Doyle was selected as the new Head Men's Basketball Coach at ODAC opponent Shenandoah University.

Since returning, Doyle has helped coach eight All-ODAC honorees, including four-time All-ODAC player Tim Fisher, and two-timer Lamont Steward. Doyle still plays a crucial role in the recruiting process, and helps in creating scouting reports as well as logistic planning for the Marlins. He also has a big hand in player development on and off the court.

Prior to returning to VWU, the assistant coach spent a year at Wilkes University, where he helped lead the program to its best season in 17 years. As an assistant there, he played a large part in the recruiting process, creating scouting reports as well as player development on and off the court.

Before Wilkes, the Franklin, Va. native, was a graduate assistant at Lynchburg, working on similar things including scouting, developing players and running camps.

A former Marlin, Doyle played two years (45-15 record while there) under head coach Dave Macedo before graduating in 2016. The former guard was not only part of the 2015-16 squad that boasted a 27-6 record and made its way to the NCAA Division III Final Four, but was also a team captain that season. Over his two year career at VWU (formerly VWC), Doyle racked up 393 points, 124 rebounds, and 77 assists. Before becoming a Marlin, he had a two-year stint at Division I Delaware State.
