D'Juan Tucker

D’Juan Tucker returned to Virginia Wesleyan to become a member of the men’s basketball coaching staff in September 2018. A former Virginia Wesleyan player and coach, Tucker brings tremendous knowledge of collegiate basketball to the coaching staff. 

During his time as an assistant coach with the Marlins, Tucker has helped coach 25 All-ODAC honorees including D.J. Woodmore, a two-time NABC All-American and the 2011 ODAC Rookie of the Year, Donald Vaughn, Chris Teasley, as well as Lamont Steward and Tim Fisher, all two-time ODAC honorees. 

Tucker helps with game day logistics as well as player development on and off the court. In addition he plays a part in the recruiting process and in creating the scouting reports.

Graduating from Virginia Wesleyan University, former College, in 2008, Tucker was part of an extremely successful men’s basketball program. While in a Marlin uniform, Tucker’s teams held a record of 105-21. He was the starting point guard for the school’s first-ever Division III National Championship (2006) as well as their National Runner-up stint the following season. Tucker was a team captain for the Marlins during the 2005-06 & 2006-07 seasons and contributed to two Old Dominion Athletic Conference championships and four consecutive trips to the NCAA tournament including a 12-3(80%) NCAA tournament record.

Post-graduation, Tucker got into the coaching side of things, teaming up with his alma mater as an assistant coach as well as the Director of Recruiting. He remained in this position for five seasons (‘08-’09 to ‘12-’13), helping the squad turn out a record of 115-35 and earn five-straight NCAA appearances. In addition, Tucker was the Co-Director of the Blue Marlin Basketball Camps.

Tucker currently ranks No. 6 in VWU history with 310 assists, No. 12 in steals with 102, and No. 12 in triples made, with 109.

After ending his stint with Marlins, Tucker turned to coaching at the high school level. The Virginia Beach, Va. local was the head coach of a Higher Level 17U AAU team as well as the Assistant Boys Varsity Coach at Hylton High school.
