Personal

• Son of Diana Whitson and Robert Whitson; parents attended Virginia Tech and George Mason University
• Has two siblings, Patrick, a student at Roanoke College, and Chris, enrolled at South University
• Enjoys listening to the music of Cold Play and spending vacation time at Virginia Beach
• A fan of Olympic running legend Steve Prefontaine, the New York Giants and the Seattle Mariners
• Favorites include the book "Out of Nowhere" and the movie "A River Runs Through It"

• My favorite aspect of  being an athlete is: "the racing and overcoming challenges."
• The part of my game I've improved the most is: "endurance, strength and speed."
• My personal athletic goal at VWC is:"win ODAC's, regionals and make All-America status."
• If I could participate in a reality show it would be: "Jeopardy, because my family watches it every week."
• People might be surprised to know that : "I have created lures for fly fishing since I was nine years old."
• The most important advice I've received is: "Never give up in a race, no matter if I have to crawl past the finish line."
