Amherst College Athletics

Spring 2023: Sophomore Casey Bennett played in all five spring tournaments. He played as the number three in the first three and the number two in the final two. Bennett averaged 81 strokes per 18 holes. His highest place was 12th in the Marlins Invitational.

• April 23rd - 25th the team traveled to Greensboro, NC to play in the ODAC men’s championship. Bennett, the #2 for VWU shot 84 in the first round, 85 in the second, and 78 in the 3rd. He totaled 247 strokes through 54 holes and placed 49th overall.
• April 11th the team traveled to Elizabethton, TN to play in the Mountain Empire Intercollegiate. Bennett, the #2 for VWU shot 81 in the first round and 78 in the second. He totaled 159 strokes through 36 holes and placed 41st overall.

• March 31st - April 2nd the team played in the 50th Camp Lejeune Championship in Camp Lejeune, NC. Bennett, 3rd in the VWU lineup shot 86 on the first day, 80 on the second, and 81 on the third. He totaled 247 strokes through 54 holes and tied for 84th place overall. 

• March 20th - 21st the VWU team hosted the Marlins Invitational at Cypress Point Country Club, in Virginia Beach, VA. Bennett played as the number three for the marlins and shot 83 on the first day and 78 on the second day. He totaled 161 strokes and tied for 12th overall.

• February 27th - 28th the team played in the Pfeiffer Invitational in Ocean Isle, NC. Bennett, the third player in the lineup for VWU shot 82 on the first day and 78 on the second day. Bennett shot a total of 160 strokes and placed 22 overall.
   

Fall 2022: Junior Casey Bennett played in all four of the fall tournaments. Averaging 82 strokes per round of 18 holes of golf this fall.

• November 18th - 19th: the team played in the NCWU Don Scalf Invitational in Rocky Mount, NC. Bennett played as the number 3 from VWU and shot 84 on the first day and 81 on the second day. Totaling 165 strokes and tying him for 38th place to finish. 

• On September 30th the team played in the Golden Oaks shootout in Fleetwood, PA. Bennett played as the number 3 on the VWU team and shot 85 strokes tying him for 47th place overall. The tournament was cut short due to inclement weather and poor playing conditions.

• On October 17th and 18th, the team played in Suffolk, VA at VSGA intercollegiate tournament. Bennett playing as the number 3 from VWU shot 81 on the first day and 81 on the second day totaling 162 strokes tying him for 28th overall.

• The team traveled to Hampden-Sydney, VA October 22nd, and 23rd to play in the Hampden-Sydney Fall invite. Bennett played as the number 4 on the VWU team. He shot 78 on the first day and 83 on the second day totaling 161 strokes and placing 20th overall.

2021-22: Competed in seven tournaments for the Marlins with an average score of 84.38 strokes ... Recorded his lowest score of 76 (+4/par 72) on day two of the Camp Lejeune Invitational at Camp Lejeune in North Carolina, an eight stroke improvement from day one ... Tallied a pair of 79 scores in rounds two and three 2022 ODAC Men's Golf Championship Tournament ... Collected a second place finish in the dual against the Newport News Apprentice School in mid September ...

Personal: Casey is a member of the Batten Honors College at Virginia Wesleyan. He
earned the first year chemistry achievement award during the 2022-2023 school year.

In high school Casey was a 2x golf state champion.
