The Virginia Wesleyan University softball team (42-0, 20-0 ODAC) left no doubt in game two of the 2026 ODAC Championship Tournament, erupting for 14 runs across the first three innings in a dominant 14-0 victory over Lynchburg.
The Marlins were sharp from the outset, both in the circle and at the plate, as Hannah Hearl set the tone with four hitless innings while the offense overwhelmed Lynchburg pitching early and often. Hearl dominated through four innings, striking out five without allowing a hit, before Emma Orr closed out the final frame to secure the run-rule victory.
Morgan Tucker led the offense as she was 1-for-1 with a two-run homer, and scored three runs. Olivia Knight's bat was hot too as she went 2-for-3, scored two runs, and led the team with three RBI, and teammate Alison Pollack was 2-for-2, scored a run, and had two RBI. Sarah Prosser and Haley Sadler each were 2-for-3, with Prosser adding two RBI, and Sadler notching one RBI.
Virginia Wesleyan wasted little time getting on the board in the bottom of the first. After Samantha Deitsch worked a walk and swiped second, Morgan Tucker delivered the game's first big swing, blasting a two-run home run to right-center to give the Marlins a 2-0 lead. It was a quick, decisive strike that immediately put Lynchburg on its heels.
The second inning turned the game into a rout, as Virginia Wesleyan poured in seven runs on a combination of timely hitting and defensive miscues. Haley Sadler reached on an error to begin the frame and later scored on Deitsch's RBI single to center, extending the lead to 3-0. With the bases loaded shortly after, Tucker drew a walk to keep the pressure on before Taylor McQueen was hit by a pitch, forcing in another run. Alison Pollack followed with a bases-loaded walk of her own, bringing home yet another run as the inning snowballed.
Olivia Knight then broke the inning wide open with a two-run single to left, pushing the advantage to 7-0. The Marlins weren't done. After Sadler singled to reload the bases, Karley Beltran drew a walk to force in a run, and Sarah Prosser capped the inning with an RBI single to third, plating another. By the time the dust settled, Virginia Wesleyan had sent a parade of hitters to the plate and built a commanding 9-0 lead.
The offensive onslaught continued in the third inning, where the Marlins tacked on five more runs to put the game completely out of reach. Tucker again ignited the rally with a walk before McQueen singled to put two aboard. Pollack delivered an RBI single to score Tucker, and Knight followed with another RBI knock to bring home McQueen.
Sadler kept the line moving with an RBI single to right, scoring the pinch runner and extending the lead to 12-0. After advancing on the bases, Sadler's pinch runner Courtney Cole came around to score on a Beltran groundout, and Prosser finished off the inning with her second RBI single of the game, pushing the margin to 14-0.
