Marlins Have Division III Best Seven, Awarded NFCA All-Region Honors

The National Fastpitch Coaches Association announced the 386 student-athletes from 161 schools who comprise the 2026 NFCA Division III All-Region teams. Following a historic regular season, the No. 1-ranked Virginia Wesleyan University softball program placed seven student-athletes on the 2026 National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Region teams.

Highlighted by four First Team selections. Senior pitcher Hannah Hearl, senior pitcher Emma Adams, junior catcher Taylor McQueen, and senior infielder Morgan Tucker were each named First Team All-Region. Junior infielder Laci Campbell and senior utility player Samantha Deitsch earned Second Team honors, while senior outfielder Sarah Prosser collected Third Team recognition.

The seven honorees helped power the Marlins to a perfect 48-0 record entering NCAA Super Regional play, as Virginia Wesleyan continued one of the most dominant campaigns in Division III softball history.

Hearl anchored the Marlins pitching staff with a flawless 25-0 record and a 0.53 earned run average across 131.0 innings in the circle. The senior struck out 190 batters while holding opposing hitters to a .113 batting average, tossing 11 complete games and six shutouts during her standout season.

Adams added another dominant arm to the Virginia Wesleyan rotation, posting a 22-0 mark with a 0.46 ERA in 107.0 innings pitched. The senior recorded 86 strikeouts while limiting opponents to a .167 batting average and also contributed offensively with a .355 batting average, 22 hits, and 16 RBIs.

Behind the plate, McQueen turned in one of the nation's best offensive seasons by a catcher. The junior hit .488 with 63 hits, 14 doubles, eight home runs, and 60 RBIs while scoring 48 runs. Defensively, she committed just one error all season and posted a .995 fielding percentage.

Tucker continued her remarkable senior campaign by batting a team-best .500 with 65 hits, 61 runs scored, 12 doubles, 12 home runs, and 78 RBIs. She also carried a .931 slugging percentage and .580 on-base percentage while striking out only six times all season.

Campbell earned Second Team honors after producing a .406 batting average with 52 hits, 66 runs scored, and 53 stolen bases in 58 attempts. The junior also posted a .553 on-base percentage and played stellar defense with a .989 fielding percentage.

Deitsch added another versatile weapon to the Marlins lineup, batting .448 with 64 hits, 13 doubles, five triples, and 47 RBIs. The senior scored 51 runs and stole 26 bases while appearing in all 48 contests.

Prosser rounded out the Virginia Wesleyan selections after batting .436 with 51 hits and 47 runs scored. The senior reached base at a .528 clip, stole 20 bases, and was flawless defensively with a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage.

Virginia Wesleyan continues postseason action this weekend as the Marlins host Super Regional competition at Broyles Field.
