The Virginia Wesleyan University softball (47-0) team continued its dominant postseason run, defeating Manhattanville 6-0 in game two of the 2026 NCAA Softball National Championship Tournament at Broyles Field to punch their ticket to the Regional Final. The Marlins improved to a perfect 47-0 on the season behind a dominant pitching performance from Hannah Hearl and a balanced offensive attack that produced 14 hits. Hearl was electric in the circle, allowing just one hit while striking out 14 batters across six shutout innings before Emma Adams closed out the seventh.
The Senior Haley Sadler led the Marlins offense, going 2-for-4, with a double, and tallied two RBI. Laci Campbell went 2-for-5, scored a run, had one RBI, and stole one base. Samantha Deitsch was 2-for-3 at the plate, and teammate Sarah Prosser recorded one hit, but it was an RBI triple.
After being held scoreless through the first two innings despite four early hits, the Marlins broke through in the top of the third. Laci Campbell started the rally with a single up the middle before Morgan Tucker drew a walk. Alison Pollack then ripped an RBI single into right-center to plate Campbell for the first run of the game. Olivia Knight followed with an RBI infield single to score Tucker, and Haley Sadler capped the inning with an RBI single to right-center that brought home Pollack and pushed the lead to 3-0.
Virginia Wesleyan added three more runs in the fifth inning to put the game out of reach. Pollack opened the inning with a single before pinch runner Laney Pearce stole second base. Sadler then delivered an RBI double to right-center to score Pearce and make it 4-0. After a passed ball moved pinch runner Cali Megaro to third, Sarah Prosser lined a triple down the left-field line to bring Megaro home. Campbell added the final run moments later with an RBI single up the middle that scored Prosser for the 6-0 advantage.
The Marlins continued to pressure Manhattanville throughout the afternoon, recording multiple hits from Campbell, Samantha Deitsch, Pollack, Sadler, and Karley Beltran. Campbell finished 2-for-5 with an RBI and a stolen base, while Pollack went 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI. Sadler added two hits and two RBI, and Prosser contributed an RBI triple and a run scored.
