Marlins Honor 2006 National Championship Team During Halftime Ceremony

Virginia Wesleyan University proudly honored the members of its historic 2006 Men's Basketball National Championship team during a special halftime ceremony at Saturday's men's basketball game, celebrating the 20th anniversary of one of the most significant achievements in program history.

The 2006 squad made history by capturing the first NCAA Division III National Championship in Virginia Wesleyan history, setting a championship standard that continues to define Marlins basketball today. During the ceremony, the team was recognized for its dedication, teamwork, and lasting impact on the university and its athletics tradition.

Several members of the championship team returned to campus with their families and were acknowledged on the court, including Brandon Adair, Terrell Dixon, Tyler Fantin, Marques Fitch, Torrey Green, Thomas Sumpter, Matt Towe, D'Juan Tucker, and Rodney Young. Fans in attendance gave the group a warm welcome home, showing appreciation for a team that brought national recognition to the Marlins program.

Two decades later, the legacy of the 2006 national champions remains evident throughout Virginia Wesleyan basketball, from daily practices to game nights in front of Marlins fans. Their achievement continues to inspire current student-athletes and serves as a reminder of the excellence and pride that define the program.
