The Virginia Wesleyan University men's soccer team (3-0-1) earned a 1-0 victory over William Paterson (1-2-1) on Sunday evening at Foster Field at the Tassos Paphitis Soccer Complex.
The Marlins were led offensively by
Ryan McAdams, who scored the game's only goal in the 52nd minute. Goalkeeper
Seth Brown played the full 90 minutes in net, making one save to earn the shutout and improve to 3-0-1 on the season.
Virginia Wesleyan controlled possession and created multiple chances but went into halftime tied 0-0. In the second half, McAdams' goal in the 52nd minute gave VWU the lead. The Marlins continued to manage the game while maintaining a solid defensive shape, holding William Paterson without a goal for the remainder of the contest.
Virginia Wesleyan out shot the opposition 10-7, including a 6-1 advantage in shots on goal. The Marlins also held an 8-2 advantage in corner kicks, demonstrating control in both offensive and set-piece situations.
