Campbell, Tucker Lead Marlins in VaSID All-State Accolades

Seven members of the 2025 Virginia Wesleyan University softball team have been selected to the VaSID All-State Team.

Leading the Marlins was Laci Campbell who was named VaSID Player of the Year, and teammate Morgan Tucker was named VaSID Rookie of the Year. Head Coach Brandon Elliott was named VaSID Coach of the Year.  

The Marlins had five first team All-State members: Laci Campbell, Morgan Tucker, Lauren Bible, Olivia Knight, and Sarah Prosser, and two players on second team: Hannah Hearl and Mackenzie Myers.

Laci Campbell had an excellent year, receiving NFCA Third Team All-American, CSC Academic All-American, First Team All-Region, ODAC Player of the Year, and First Team All-ODAC honors. She had a great season, starting all 56 games for the Marlins, with a .389 batting average, 58 hits, four doubles, three triples, and two home runs, totaling 33 RBI. She led the league in scoring with 69 runs, stole a league-high 52 bases, and was only struck out five times in 149 at bats, with a .497 slugging percentage, with an OPS of .994.

Morgan Tucker was named First Team All-Region, ODAC Rookie of the Year, and All-ODAC First Team for her contributions. She played in 55-of-56 games for VWU and led the team in batting average (.477), hits (74), OPS (1.235), double (15), RBI (76), and slugging percentage (.735). She led the league in batting average, doubles, RBI, OPS, and slugging percentage, and was second in the league in hits, with 76 RBI broke VWU's and ODAC's single-season RBI record.

Lauren Bible this season was named Third Team All-American, First Team All-ODAC, and NFCA First Team All-Region has posted an ODAC best 27-3 record, 12 complete games, with four shutouts, and one save through 159.0 innings pitched. She allowed 105 hits, 60 runs, 49 earned runs, 84 strikeouts, and held opponents to a .186 batting average, and had a 2.16 ERA. 

Olivia Knight was a cornerstone of the team at catcher, she played in 51 games and started in 47, she was third on the team with a .373 batting average, had 47 hits, eight doubles, and six homers, tallied 32 RBI, and she was one of the best catchers in the conference as she caught eight base runner stealing and only allowed 15 stolen bases all season. 

Sarah Prosser was one of the best outfielders in the conference, starting in all 56 games for VWU, as a slap hitter she had a .347 batting average, 59 hits, scored 57 runs, had eight doubles, 24 RBI, and stole 36 bases. 

Hannah Hearl had a breakout season, she posted a 14-3 record, with nine complete games, three shutouts, and two saves through 115.2 innings pitched. She allowed 77 hits, 28 runs, 24 earned runs, 112 strikeouts, and held opponents to a .183 batting average, and held a 1.45 ERA. 

Mackenzie Myers had a great season, starting in 53 games for the Marlins, as she was third in batting average at .355, a .989 OPS, recorded 49 hits, 11 doubles, four triples, had three home runs for 49 RBI, and led the league with 10 sacrifice flies. She was walked 23 times, had a .558 slugging percentage, and stole 26 bases.
