The Virginia Wesleyan University softball team (10-0) went 4-0 this weekend and today won 8-4 against Muhlenberg, and 14-0 versus Arcadia.
Game One:
Morgan Tucker continued her outstanding run of play as she went 3-for-4, with a double, and three RBI. Sarah Prosser was 2-for-4, scored two runs, and had one RBI. Laci Campbell went 1-for-3 at-bat with a triple, scored one run, and had two RBI.
Lauren Bible recorded the win as she pitched 4.0 innings, allowed one hit, two unearned runs, and had two strikeouts.
Muhlenberg scored first in the top of the first to lead 2-0 after the first inning. Virginia Wesleyan stormed back in the bottom of the second scoring six runs on five hits to lead 6-2. Olivia Knight led off the inning and was walked, Julia Piotrowski single to center field to put runners on the corners for Joslyn Woodard who single through the left side to score Knight. Woodard stole second to put runners on second and third for Sarah Prosser who single to score Piotrowski to tie the game at 2-2. Next, Laci Campbell tripled to right field to score Woodard and Prosser to take a 4-2 lead. Mackenzie Myers was hit by a pitch and stole second before Morgan Tucker hit a double to left field that scored Campbell and Myers to complete the six-run inning.
The Marlins added two more runs in the fourth as Joslyn Woodard was hit by a pitch and advanced to second as Prosser singled to third. Campbell grounded out to the pitcher to move the runners into scoring position for Mackenzie Myers who hit a sacrifice fly to left field that scored Woodard. Next, Tucker doubled to left field to score Prosser and give VWU an 8-2 lead.
Muhlenberg scored two runs in the top of the sixth to bring the score to 8-4, but the Marlins' defense held strong and sealed the 8-4 win for the Marlins.
Game Two:
Sarah Prosser went 2-for-3 to lead the Marlins offense, with a double, one stolen base, and two RBI. Mirandah Jenkins was 2-for-4, scored one run, and had two RBI. Haley Sadler was 2-for-3 and scored three runs.
Emma Adams recorded the win as she pitched 3.0 innings, allowed one hit, and had three strikeouts.

Haley Sadler singled to right field to put runners on the corners and Julia Piotrowski reached on an error to score Adams increasing their lead to 2-0. Sarah Prosser doubled to score Sadler from third followed by a ground out to second that scored Piotrowski to put VWU up 4-0.
Virginia Wesleyan kept up the pressure as they scored five runs in the third inning off five hits and an error. Morgan Tucker reached on an error to begin the inning and stole second. Then, Mirandah Jenkins singled to advance the runner. Joslyn Woodard doubled to score Tucker and Jenkins and give the Marlins a 6-0 lead. Sadler singled to center field to put runners on the corners for Piotrowski who hit a single that scored Woodard. Prosser singled and drove home Sadler. Campbell was walked to load the bases from Mackenzie Myers who was walked to bring home the ninth run for the Marlins.
The Marlins extended their lead in the fourth inning by scoring five runs on two hits and two errors to seal the 14-0 win. Abigail Jones led off the inning and was walked, then Woodard reached on an error to put runners on the corners. Haley Sadler came up to bat and put the ball in play that resulted in an error by the shortstop to score Jones from third. Next, Paiton Everett walked to load up the bases for Riley Curtice who hit a sacrifice fly to score Woodard from third. Sam Smith singled to load up the bases again for Cali Megaro who walked to score Salder to increase the Marlins lead to 12-0. Mirandah Jenkins singled to score Everett and Smith to seal the 14-0 win.
