Gabe Salubayba of the Virginia Wesleyan University Esports Team won the ECAC Teamfight Tactics Championship.
Teamfight Tactics season consisted of a seven-week regular season to decide the seed by a points system where 1st place receives eight points and eighth place receives one point. Salubayba ranked 6th in the ECAC. The playoffs are split into two weeks, a semi-final round and a championship round.
In the semi-finals, Gabe Salubayba matched up against two Kennesaw State University players, Penn State Behrend, Concord University, Saint Clair College, University of Health Sciences & Pharmacy, and Wayne State College. They played 3 matches in the same group and the top 4 from the two semi-finals would move on to the Championship round. Gabe, across the three games, finished 2nd, 3rd, and 3rd, for a total of 19 points, securing him the 3rd seed heading into the Championship match.
On March 24th, in the Championship round, they played a checkmate formate, meaning a race to 17 points to claim the title. The Championship round pitted Gabe against UM-Flint, Fisher College, Saint Clair College, two Kennesaw State University players, Concord University, and Westchester Community College. Gabe proceeded to place 3rd, 4th, and 2nd place in the first 3 lobbies to accrue 18 points that put him into "check". He then won the fourth match outright and claimed the ECAC Teamfight Tactics Division C Championship.
