The Virginia Wesleyan University women's volleyball team swept the week 6 ODAC Athletes of the Week as
Hannah Smith earned Offensive Player of the Week and
Breana Brooks received Defensive Player of the Week.
Smith, a graduate student from Virginia Beach, Va., earns her second ODAC weekly honor after helping nationally 22nd-ranked Virginia Wesleyan to a 3-0 week against ODAC foes. The Marlins remain unbeaten in 2025 at 19-0 overall and 6-0 in conference matches. Smith registered an ODAC weekly-high 45 kills on a .315 attack percentage to go with six aces, 36 digs, and five total blocks. She accounted for 53.5 total points over the Marlins three matches. In a 3-2 win over a strong Lynchburg side on Wednesday, Smith collected nine kills and three aces to go with 23 digs and three total blocks to keep the Marlins in the driver's seat in the ODAC table. On the weekend in a Friday-Saturday set of matches at Roanoke and Hollins, respectively, Smith combined for 36 kills (16 and 20) on just 58 swings at a .483 clip. She added three aces, 13 digs, and two total blocks. For the season, Smith leads the ODAC in kills (269) and is second in kills per set (3.90). She is third in aces (38), tied for fifth in digs (258), ninth in digs per set (3.74), and 11th in hitting percentage (.270).
Brooks, a senior from Asheboro, Va., collects her second ODAC weekly award of the season after helping nationally 22nd-ranked Virginia Wesleyan to a 3-0 week. The Marlins remain unbeaten this season at 19-0 overall and 6-0 in league play. Brooks contributed well on defense and offense with 12 total blocks and 21 kills over VWU's three matches. Her best outing came in the midweek with the Marlins earning a 3-2 win over a strong Lynchburg side. Brooks went for 13 kills while hitting .308 with four total blocks. In weekend #2 of the ODAC's Friday-Saturday matchups, Virginia Wesleyan squared off with Roanoke and Hollins on the roads. Brooks turned back the Maroons offense with five total blocks to go with a pair of kills in a 3-0 on day one. On Saturday, Brooks notched three more blocks to go with six kills in a 3-1 victory over Hollins. For the season, Brooks leads the ODAC in total blocks (60), block assists (44), and blocks per set (0.94). She is second in solo blocks (16) and hitting percentage (.338) with 124 kills in 266 swings.
