Softball Drops Game One of NCAA Tournament Championships To UW-Oshkosh

The Virginia Wesleyan University softball team (40-9) lost to the No. 4 Seed University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh 4-1 in the NCAA Championships.

Alison Pollack led the team going 2-for-3 with an RBI at bat, Sarah Prosser was 3-for-4, and Karley Beltran was 2-for-3 at the plate and scored one run.

Emma Adams pitched 6.0 innings, allowed four hits, three runs, two earned runs, and tallied one strikeout.

After an eight hour weather delay the game finally got going. The Titans scored two runs in the second, and one run in the third to lead 3-0.

UW-Oshkosh added a run in the sixth to seal the 4-0 lead over Virginia Wesleyan.

The Marlins offense had a late surge in the seventh, as Karley Beltran, Sarah Prosser, and Mackenzie Myers singled to load up the bases of Pollack who was walked to score a run.

Up next, the Marlins will face Tufts in the Elimination bracket. A time is TBD due to the weather delay. Check the schedule on vwuathletics.com or NCAA.com for more information.
