The Virginia Wesleyan University softball team ended their 2024 season with a 40-10 record, losing to Tufts in the 2024 NCAA Championship Tournament 5-1.
Mackenzie Myers led the team going 1-for-3, with a double, and an RBI,
Sarah Prosser,
Laci Campbell,
Olivia Knight, and
Joslyn Woodard all recorded a hit, and Beltran was walked twice and scored the lone run for VWU.
Emma Adams records the loss, pitching 7.0 innings, allowing five hits, five runs, and had two strikeouts.
Tufts scored two runs in the second to take a 2-0 lead. The Marlins responded in the third inning.
Karley Beltran led off the inning with a walk and moved to second on a ground out by Prosser.
Laci Campbell singled to second moving Beltran to third, and
Mackenzie Myers grounded out to second to score Beltran from third to bring the score to 2-1.
Tufts scored one in the four, and two in the fifth to seal the 5-1 win over the Marlins.
