Men's Lacrosse Lose to Guilford in Regular Season Finale

The Virginia Wesleyan University men's lacrosse team (5-11, 2-7 ODAC) was defeated by Guilford 16-7. 

Sam Edwards led the offense with three goals, one ground ball, and caused one turnover, Sebastian Reynolds had two goals, one assist, on five shots, and Daniel Auxier had one goal on six shots for the Marlins. 

Zack Tucker got the start in the net, he allowed 16 goals, and had 14 saves, through 60 minutes of play. 

The Quakers scored the first five goals of the game to take a commanding lead. Sebastian Reynolds got the Marlins on the board with an unassisted goal in the last two minutes of the first quarter. 

Virginia Wesleyan started the second quarter strong as Sam Edwards scored a goal at the 13:54 mark to cut the lead to 5-2. Then, Parker Lucas scored a man-up goal with an assist from Sebastian Reynolds to cut the lead to 5-3. Guilford scored a goal to bring the score to 6-3, but with under two minutes until halftime, Sebastian Raynolds scored a man-up goal with an assist from Liam Murphy to bring the score to 6-4. With five seconds left in the half, Daniel Auxier scored off a feed from Mark Sprague to cut the lead to 6-5 at the break. 

Guilford came out of halftime and scored two goals to extend their lead to 8-5. Sam Edwards came up big and scored an unassisted goal to cut the lead to 8-6. The Quakers scored five goals in the third quarter to take a 13-6 lead. 

Sam Edwards scored a goal in the fourth quarter, but Guilford went on to win the game 16-7.
