Bridgewater Emerges Victorious Over Virginia Wesleyan 14-13

The Virginia Wesleyan University men's lacrosse team ( 5-9, 2-5 ODAC) were defeated by Bridgewater 14-13. 

Daniel Auxier led the pack with five goals, five ground balls, and caused two turnovers, Mark Sprague scored two goals and one assist, and Ben Andrews scored three goals. 

Aiden Freeland got his third start in net for the Marlins, played the full 60 minutes, allowing 14 goals, and made 18 saves. 

In the first period, the Eagles took an early 4-1 lead. However, Virginia Wesleyan quickly responded with goals from Sam Edwards and Daniel Auxier, keeping the game close. A goal from Parker Lucas in the closing second of the period ended with Bridgewater leading 4-3.

The second period saw back-and-forth action, with both teams trading goals. The Eagles scored the first goal to take a 5-3 lead. Virginia Wesleyan responded with four straight goals, three from Ben Andrews, to give the Marlins a 7-5 lead at halftime. 

In the third period, the scoring continued, with both teams showcasing their offensive prowess. Bridgewater scored four goals in the third quarter, but Virginia Wesleyan maintained their lead with goals from Daniel Auxier, Mark Sprague, and Sebastian Reynolds. Going into the final period, Virginia Wesleyan led 12-9.

The fourth period was intense as Bridgewater fought hard to close the gap. Scoring a man-advantage goal to start the final frame. Daniel Auxier scored his fifth goal with an assist from Liam Murphy to take a 13-10 lead. However, the Eagles scored four goals over the final nine minutes of play, to seal the 14-13 win over VWU.
