The Virginia Wesleyan University women's tennis team (4-4, 1-0 ODAC) won their first conference match of the 2024 season with a 6-3 win over Lynchburg. 

In the doubles matches, Kristina Abrams and Haley Haydon won the No. 3 doubles match 8-1. Next, Tuva Flink and Sophie Engelberts won the No. 1 doubles match 8-4, and in the No. 2 doubles match the duo of Mikisha Thomas and Shannon Lewes fell narrowly 8-7. The Marlins held a 2-1 lead after the doubles match finished.

Mikisha Thomas was fired up and won the No. 4 singles match 7-5, 6-2 to put the Marlins up 3-1. Sophia Bibbo finished her match in the No. 5 singles as she lost to Jordan Ottaviano 6-4, 4-6, 2-6 to bring the score to 3-2. 

Tuva Flink won her No. 1 singles match by retirement and won the first set 7-5 to extend the Marlins lead to 4-2. Shannon Lewes was defeated in the No. singles spot by Emma Pinola 6-7, 5-7 to bring the score to 4-3.

With such tight margins, Haley Haydon rose to the occasion to win the No. 6 singles match 6-0, 6-1 against Emily Wrenn to seal the Marlins win at 5-3. Sophie Engelberts won the No. 2 singles match 4-6, 7-6, and 6-4 to extend the win to 6-3.
