The Virginia Wesleyan University women's tennis team (3-1) was defeated by Division II opponent Chowan 6-3.
The duo of Tuva Flink and Sophie Engelberts lost to Manuela Jimenez and Selene Kentish 6-2 and in the second doubles match Shannon Lewes and Mikisha Thomas fell to Feidi Abreu Rodrigue and Sreshta Puducheri 6-3. The Marlins won a point by forfeit in the third doubles match.
Chowan forfeited the sixth doubles match to give the Marlins two points.
Sophia Bibbo finished her singles match first winning 6-0 and 6-0 to give the Marlins three points.
Chowans Slene Kentish defeated Mikisha Thomas 6-1, 6-1 to put Chowan up 3-2.
Shannon Lewes was defeated by Sreshta Puducheri in the next singles match 6-0 and 6-3.
Tuva Flink lost the first singles match 6-0 and 6-0 to seal the win for Chowan.
Sophie Engelberts fought hard in the second singles match dropping a close first game 6-4 and losing the second game 6-0.
