The Virginia Wesleyan University women's soccer team (2-1) was defeated by Pacific Lutheran University 2-0.
The match began heavily defensive on both sides of the ball, as for a majority of the first half, neither team registered many shots on goal. In the 7th minute, the Marlins attempted to strike early with a shot on goal from midfielder
Julia Marrone. The shot was saved by Pacific Lutheran.
PLU registered a couple shots of their own which ended up going wide of the net.
In the 52nd minute, the Lutes scored off a header from a pass at the top of the box, making the score 0-1.
Janessa Lowe registered two shots on goal in attempts to put one on the scoreboard for the Marlins.
In the 63rd minute, the Lutes scored another goal making the score 0-2.
The Marlins play tomorrow at 5 p.m. against Gettysburg College.
