Men's Soccer Edged by Hampden-Sydney in Close Contest

Virginia Wesleyan University men's soccer team (7-2) lost to Hampden-Sydney College 1-2 in a match that came down to the wire.

The match started off with both sides trading off fouls consistently throughout the first half.

The Marlins broke through in the 42nd minute when JaMarhe Wills placed a perfect header to the foot of Nate Mitchell, who then put the ball in the back of the net to put the Marlins up 1-0.

Hampden-Sydney got off to a tremendous start in the 2nd half. In the 48th minute, the Tigers scored off of a well-placed corner kick to tie the game at 1-1.

In the 62nd minute, the Tigers scored another goal to make the score 1-2.

For the remainder of the 2nd half, the Marlin's attack forced multiple scoring chances, unfortunately all of which fell short in a last second effort to score and tie the game.

The Marlins will hit the road on September 30th to take on Bridgewater College at 3:00 P.M.
