The Marlins (7-1, 1-1 ODAC) defeated Ferrum College in their first away game of the season.
The Marlins started off with a constant attack on Ferrum's goal. This led to a wonderful shot from right outside the penalty box from midfielder
Alex Moody in the 10th minute.
JaMarhe Wills helped layoff a pass for Moody to finish and make the score 1-0.
In the 30th minute, defender
Ryan McAdams delivered a pass with precision to
Nate Mitchell who then finished the ball into the back of the net to put the Marlins up 2-0.
The Marlins were rejoiced about being up 2-0 at halftime.
In the 61th minute, the Marlins drew a corner kick.
Ilan Mejia took the kick and paced a beautiful ball which found the head of
Everett McCloskey. The ball then sailed past the goalkeeper and found the back of the net to put the Marlins up 3-0.
Virginia Wesleyan did a phenomenal job in the 30 minutes remaining as they held them goalless.
This win gives
Jordan Smith his 4th win of the season and his 3rd shutout of the season
The Marlins will travel back home next week and play Hampden-Sydney College on Wednesday, September 27th, at 7:00 p.m.
