Men's Soccer Extends Winning Streak with Another Victory Against North Carolina Wesleyan

Virginia Wesleyan University's Men's Soccer team (6-0) achieved another win against North Carolina Wesleyan 2-0 in a heavily contested game.

The Marlins and Battling Bishops both played an impressive defensive performance for much of the first half. Neither teams registered any shots on goal, which made the first half scoreless.

The Marlins held on to a steady attack in the second half, leading to multiple opportunities to score from Alex Moody, Everett McCloskey, Ilan Mejia, and Zach Bittler

Eventually the Marlins were able to capitalize on one of those chances. In the 73rd minute, Alex Moody set up Everett McCloskey perfectly with a wonderful through ball on the left wing. McCloskey was then able to dribble into the box and fire a shot which sailed past the goalkeeper and into the back of the net to put the Marlins up 1-0.

In the 81st minute, Zach Bittler dribbled past a defender and into the box, Bittler then stuck a well-placed ball into the goal to put the Marlins up 2-0.

This victory gives the Marlins their sixth win of the season. The Marlins will attempt to remain undefeated when they play Washington and Lee on Wednesday, September 20th at 6:00 p.m. at the Tassos Paphites Soccer Complex.
