Virginia Wesleyan University men's soccer team (4-0) defeated Randolph College 2-0 in a match with an abundance of aggressive plays.
After a lighting delay which eventually canceled the match, the Marlins finally faced off against the Wildcats at 10:00 a.m. at Foster Field.
The match started off with many contested plays and plenty of fouls for both sides.
At the end of the first half Randolph College had drawn five yellow card. The Marlins drew one yellow card as well.
In the 52nd minute, Forward
Zach Bittler finished the ball in the back of the net off of a
Josh Condit free kick rebound.
In the 66th minute,
Ilan Mejia played a tremendous through ball to
Zach Bittler. Leaving him enough space to put a touch on the ball and finish on the far post and into the back of the net. Giving Sophomore
Zach Bittler his second goal of the game.
Both teams finished the game with a few rough challenges. The Wildcats earned a red card in the 68th minute and the Marlins earned two yellow cards.
This 2-0 win makes the Marlins 4-0 on the young season. They will next host William Peace University on Saturday, September 16th at 3:00 p.m.
